012 (Duodecim) Final Fantasy - REVIEW

There is always something that stays afloat in a new release of Final Fantasy, something more important than the graphics, history, or sometimes even more powerful in influencing your decision to purchase: the fan service.

Well, when the first Dissidia in America, back in the distant 2009 the dream of all fans of Final Fantasy came true. Why, if Nintendo had the right to bring together their most popular characters and make them fight against each other, because Square Enix did not, with a well-established and entrenched saga the strongest memories of veteran gamers?

Even the game had more merit than Smash Bros. fighting system was less chaotic and more refined, all the characters are played differently (or so I discuss the Fox-Falco-Wolf) and history, though somewhat illogical, recounted the events leading up to Final Fantasy 1, 1987, and is valid within the Final Fantasy canon, unlike Smash Bros, which is only disguised fanservice.
That, along with classic scenes, classical music and arranged, Yoshitaka Amano art and lots and lots of references, lines of dialogue, weapons, accessories, bios, summons, etc., covered with great success the "fan service" as if I have 22 classic fighters of all FF until that day was not enough. The gameplay was so good that I played almost 500 hours and the name game of the year 2009. Important specialized pages and magazines gave him high grades, and overall it was a game very well accepted.
For the sequel came out in March of Dissidia, now named in latin Duodecim, referring to that is a prequel to the original game. Despite being prequel, the game has many innovations to make the experience deeper game, but for many, esstas "innovations" are late to the fighting genre to which it belongs Dissidia. It started with this review.
Graphics There is not much difference with the graphics of this game and the last. The scenarios and characters look the same (I think ..??), but where there is a considerable improvement if it is in the visual effects shots, magic, Ex Bursts and animations in general. You can tell without a doubt the level of quality that was put to every animation of walking, arm movements and contact with characters against each other, as is typical street Tifa or Yuna elegance with which his staff moved to invoke .
Too bad there is no impressive FMV at the beginning, and detailed movie when fights between rivals with new characters (I was looking forward to some awesome and hot action between Tifa and Ultimecia). But beyond that, the scenes between battles are very well done, maybe without as much detail as the previous film Dissidia, but the movements of the mouth, and camera angles with exceptional acting or voice you into the story.

The new characters (9 in total) are well animated, and you can not skimp on details to do so. Lightning clothes and moves with elegance Yuna and Tifa's breasts are physical! All excellent in the graphic ... and if I may say, the new alternate costumes for all characters are a pimp! Amano Garland? The Years after Golbez? Neo Exdeath?! ASDP KRAMER?! Yuna in wedding dress?! There is something for everyone.
Sound
Takeharu Ishimoto, the composer of soundtracks like Final Fatasy 7 Crisis Core, some songs from Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, The World Ends With You, plus the first Dissidia, was responsible for fix the issues that would be included in this new game. As usual, the work of this subject is very uneven.

one hand we have songs that really enhance the experience that gave us original music, as Castle Pandemonium, who might never imagine as the battle song ... On the other hand we have music very badly dressed ... go! Summoned Beast Battle should not sound so boring ... or the Temple of Chaos does not need so many electric guitars! This is Death Metal!

find that the best songs of the game are not well managed and got nothing more: Battle for Freedom (FFXII), Nascent Requiem (FFXIII), Searching for Friends (FFVI) and many more, but others had to leave them as they were (I had high hopes for Last Battle of FFV and FFIX Grand Cross), a risk that if changed, the fans hate ... surprise, Ishimoto hate you! Although clear there are some good things ...

As for voice acting I can not complain, new players are good enough, Rachael Leigh Cook glad I finally convincing a Tifa Lockhart, Bobby Edner does an excellent role as Vaan, as in FFXII, and Hedy Buress finally gives Yuna the character and the confidence I needed from the original game.

addition, old characters like Kefka, Golbez and Emperor Mateus deployed in their voice acting features much more marked than in the previous game. Teather enter the mode to see the scenes in taking part is fun and not tired. Ah yes, something else, Ali Hillis (Lightning) is, like FFXIII, best game voice actress, no doubt.

Gameplay The gameplay was good already received some tweaks needed to increase the depth of the game. In general, the game is still a hybrid RPG / Action / Fighting, jumping, running into walls, attack, use magic, you destroy the stage, all in a third person view (adjustable) where the joke is to lower the HP of your enemy to zero.

To achieve this, you have two types of attack. The first type are called BRV Attacks. These attacks opponent connecting to suck a certain amount of points BRV (Brave) of their own and added to yours. They are completely situational, and you have a good strategy for connecting. The greater the amount of BRV points you have, to make an attack of HP (more on that later) that will be the one that causes damage to your opponent, up to 9999 HP.
BRV The scenario has strengths too, which will be yours if you can lose points for
BRV
opponent to 0, making it easier for even more fighting.

HP attacks, as well as the BRV can be physical attacks with weapons or magic, all are different characters, not repeated (except for Bartz, but because it is a mime), and connecting the attack, the damage done will be equal BRV points you have. Simple. That's basically the game.

As you fight, it will absorb Ex Force (small white dots on the screen) and Ex Core (white bells that sometimes appear on stage) to fill a bar beside the portrait of your character. When filled you can transform yourself (or equip the ultimate weapon depends on the character) to increase your skills and giving you all kinds of improvements to your character for a limited time. When connecting a HP attack in that state you can start Exburst, a devastating attack several times with the many times you win the fight.
Well, everything we already knew. Assistant system is new. As attacks (no matter that connects these to the opponent) will be charged a new bar. To fill (up to two levels) you can call your assistant, you will define to make an attack BRV, HP or attack, or use it as a shield to defend against any attack. This changes drastically the way to fight it is a very strong element will now have to take into account to get along with the flow of the fight.

Unless some new moves (for example, that allow you to stay floating in the air, soaring leaps a wall size, etc.) and minor changes (the chase are faster and harder to predict, you can teleport with an assist to help continue the combo) all remain unchanged. Wait at least one new attack of BRV and HP per character, improvements and changes that already existed, and in general a more balanced game experience. As for Dissidia Gameplay 012 is very complete ...

And along with new characters, now if there is something for everyone. From Summoners, to bullies, brawlers, blue mages and gunmen ... including typical boss at the end is super playable ... Each new character has its own style that fits more or less seen in his game, Lightning such paradigms may change with L + R and thus change the fighting style of attack with his Gunblade as Commando, from by powerful magic as Ravager and heal their BP as a Medic.

Other characters are entertaining Gilgamesh, the great former right-hand Exdeath and interdimensional traveler, a powerful blue mage attacking with different weapons at random, each with special effects, and Vaan, attacking with different types of weapons (spears, swords, axes, guns, crossbows) changed nimbly and different effects that added each change (break defense, lengthy combos, Force EX extra generation, etc). That if they all have unique styles of fighting, and a challenge for masterisarlos, and all are interesting to try. If you love variety you'll find it here.
In terms of modes game, you have the story mode chapters, telling the twelfth cycle of fighting between the forces of Chaos and Cosmos, where you used to new characters and will know the reason for not appearing in the 13th cycle (spoiler: it is not nice). At the end this way, open, incredibly FULL game Final Fantasy Dissidia, complete with videos and FMV. That's right, Square Enix achievement include the first full game in a UMD with the new.

addition to the story modes, you can fight in the new mode Labyrinth, which will unlock new equipment (that you can buy at the store, you can not take anything from there) for your characters. You can fight in battles 1 vs 1, 5 vs 5, and when you get angry, you purchase items from the catalog. New scenes, costumes, characters and music, icons, finally, enough content to keep you busy for months without stopping.

History
I will not spoiler anything from history, just be satisfied with knowing that this is the fight of the 12th cycle, the heroes of Cosmos are disappearing one by one, and the force known as manikins is rising in numbers soaring to crush Cosmos and their elected officials. Chaos forces are permanently porterminar the cycle and win ... but 6 heroes are not willing to let the world from falling into the void, and begin a pilgrimage to get to the door of the Void from where the manikins and close to that in the next cycle, the remaining heroes to win.
The story is nothing more than a glorified fan service, but as you go you unlock history reports, which will give you information on the world of Final Fantasy 1, valuable information on the origin of Chaos and Garland, and lufenians. After the 12th cycle will unlock the 13th, which is the last game we know, the same story ...

And at the end that, desbloqeuaras the last story mode, one that finally explains what will happen in this world, Chaos, Cosmos, and the chosen warriors ...

Conclusion 012
Dissidia Final Fantasy is the final version of Dissidia. There is a big change from the first. It's more an expansion than anything else. Despite that, the price (10 dollars cheaper than the original), the amount of aggregates (characters, scenes, music) and the addition of the original game are FULL spending a necessity. Also, if far from a perfect game or not, is one of the latest additions to the library MUST do in your PSP ... and why not do it, is definitely the best PSP game out there.
